Consider each piece you purchase a reflection of who we are as human beings...perfectly imperfect.

Pots & Pieces is a black woman-owned pottery business that evolved into a journey of patience and acceptance. My story began at Vanderbilt University where I enrolled in a pottery course. I was selfishly self-motivated to enroll because of my older brother who took the same pottery course when he attended Vanderbilt. I simply wanted to be better than him at it, I doubt he realized that was the driver of my decision (or cared).

That’s it, that’s how it all started - nothing deep there. But over time I became obsessed, spending my college nights working at the studio until midnight, even on the sacred Fridays, a time dedicated to the turn-up.

So, what’s this journey of patience and acceptance aka the deep stuff? Well, you can waste your time reading that story here... it is a good story though. What you do need to know, is that Pots & Pieces isn’t about the false expectation of perfection. It’s about progress, not perfection. Every piece you purchase is handmade, original, and unique to you. They are quality pieces, there’s no doubt in that, but rather than dismissed, imperfections are embraced.

My work is primarily functional as I love the thought of every piece you make part of your home having daily utility. Consider each piece you purchase a reflection of who we are as human beings...perfectly imperfect.
